Joby’s story is one of those rare ones - the kind that feels meant to be from the very beginning. Found by chance at a gas station during a road trip, what could have been a fleeting moment became nearly 16 years of unwavering companionship, adventure, and love.
From that day forward, he was never just a pet - he was a constant, a partner, and a steady presence through every chapter of life. Whether traveling across the country or simply being together, Joby was always right where he belonged.
His owner shared these words, which say far more than we ever could:
“Joby was my constant from age 24 to 39 - my sidekick through my entire adult life,
especially as someone who never married or had kids. He was the kind of dog you
form a deep soul connection with that can’t be explained. A complete goofball, but
also the gentlest, most nurturing soul, always taking care of every rescue animal I
brought home like they were his own. He was the perfect adventure dog, traveling
all over the country with me and always happiest just being along for the ride.
Fittingly, that’s how we found each other. I was on a road trip and happened to stop
at a gas station in another state, where I saw him out by the dumpster. They told
me he had been left there. That’s when I knew we were each others best friend,
and from that moment on we were inseparable. Almost 16 years later, I can
honestly say he is my heart, my home, and the best thing that ever happened to
me. I can only wish that everyone gets to experience a love like my Joby.”
Some bonds settle in quietly and stay with us for a lifetime. Joby was that kind of dog.
