What began as a foster placement quickly became so much more.
As Dancy settled into her foster home, testing revealed an inoperable spinal tumor. While her future suddenly looked uncertain, Dancy never seemed to notice. She greeted each day with the same happy spirit and unwavering enthusiasm for treats, never letting her physical limitations define her. Given the opportunity, she would have been the easiest foster fail imaginable.
Over the next six months, her foster family gave her everything they could. They loved her unconditionally, celebrated every good day, and pursued treatment to keep her comfortable. When those treatments could no longer give her the quality of life she deserved, they made the heartbreaking decision to let her go peacefully, choosing love over holding on. Still grieving the recent loss of their sweet Addie, they were faced with saying goodbye once again.
The family who loved Dancy shared:
“Dancy would have been a foster fail if we would have been given the opportunity. However, we loved her as if she were ours, and we will miss her just the same. Rico Pet Recovery gave her a chance not knowing how much time we would have with her. She lived her best life in the little over six months that we had her.”
Thank you to Rico Pet Recovery for giving Dancy that chance, and to her foster family for filling it with so much love. 🤍🪽
